You bring your group and your program. We take care of everything else: the space, the food, the care. For the length of your retreat, the whole property is exclusively yours — a hand-built eco-retreat using local, natural materials, in the heart of La Punta Zicatela, wrapped in a tropical garden, 10 minutes from a world-class surf beach and 15 from the airport.

The place

Barbarenas is a hand-built, sustainable retreat centre in the heart of La Punta Zicatela. Our cabañas were built respectfully of their surroundings using local, natural materials, wrapped in a large tropical garden that immerses you in nature from the moment you arrive. Owners, staff and management all live on-site or nearby — this is a genuine community, and your group becomes part of it.

Your spaces

Open-air, ocean-view yoga shala that comfortably fits up to 15 practitioners — mats, blocks, straps, blankets and a Bluetooth speaker included. Ideal for yoga, meditation, dance, workshops or ceremony.
Five guest cabañas with private, ocean-view terraces and outdoor sky beds under traditional palapa roofing.
A natural swimming pool (natural filtration, no chemicals), a tropical garden, a fully-equipped communal kitchen with one large shared table, an outdoor space for gatherings and ceremony, and a temazcal.

Nourishing meals

Farm-to-table, homemade vegan cuisine, aligned with your retreat schedule. Our chef Armando leads the kitchen with care and accommodates dietary restrictions and allergies across your group. Locally sourced where possible; fresh water, coffee, tea, juices, smoothies and snacks available throughout the day.

Make it yours

Teach the classes yourself, or we can connect you with our network of international teachers (slow flow, yin, Hatha, restorative and more). Run it with or without alcohol. Add holistic experiences for your group: temazcal, sound healing, breathwork, ice bath, kirtan, cacao and surf. Your retreat, your way.

For your guests

A 10-minute walk from La Punta, a world-famous surf spot, with calmer bays nearby for swimming and warm water year-round. Local culture, shops and food a few steps away. We’re set slightly above town: close enough to enjoy local shops, food and culture on foot, but not a sealed-off compound — expect the occasional local sound (cars, roosters, construction). And when it matters: on-site staff around the clock, a respected hospital nearby, and double Starlink wifi (200+ Mbps) with charging stations and work-friendly tables on every terrace. Oaxaca is considered one of the safest states in Mexico.

Room for up to 19 guests (19 beds), built for groups of 8 or more.
Whole-facility rental — every cabaña, the shala, the pool, the communal kitchen and the outdoor areas are yours (our small team stays on to take care of everything).
Minimum 3 nights. No minimum group size — the base package is priced for 8 guests + the host.
